Kew Gardens is home to thousands of plant species, such as the Symphyotrichum, commonly referred to as Michaelmas Daisy. Its delicate, bright white petals danced around green leaves, capturing my eyes as it glistened in sunlight.
These flowers attract Butterflies, Bees, Birds, Bats, and many other pollinators that are vital for our survival. When these animals collect nectar and pollen from flowers, it ends up all over their bodies. As they move, they transfer pollen, ultimately helping pollinate our crops and plants reproduce. 35% of the world’s food crops depend on pollinators to reproduce, crops such as apples. bananas, potatoes, vanilla, almonds, coffee, and chocolate.
This shows we exist because of pollinators, the importance they hold, and the impacts flowers made to our environment too.
