Story:
This powerful Indian Peafowl flew down into a pen of Chickens, where it proceeded to extend its tail, exposing the colourful feathers it often hides. As the bird shook its tail towards the Chickens, I was able to snap the remarkable scene in front of me.
Although Indian Peafowl aren’t considered endangered, out of the three species, Green Peafowl are endangered, having started dramatically declining during the 20th century. Thanks to Humans, illegal wildlife trading is a major threat Green Peafowl face, being poached for meat, feathers, eggs, and chicks. Disturbances and loss of habitats also add to their ongoing decrease. To ensure their long-term survival, urgent conservation actions need to be made.
