Hundreds of logs and branches lay across the beautiful, green forest after being cut down to make space for humans.

An adorable, baby grizzly bear walks across trees that have been cut down where he lived.

When trees are either cut or burnt down, they release all the CO2 they have absorbed. This then adds more harmful greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, increasing climate change even more. Wild animals need suitable habitats where they are safe, secure and comfortable; and can safely breed, sleep, hide and feed. Without these areas, animals lose access to important resources and become exposed to new threats. Deforestation has caused a wide range of plants and animals to lose their habitats, removing their natural sources of food, water and shelter. Loss of habitats make it more likely for animals to succumb to disease or starvation.

Through land erosion, soil is depleted of its nutrients which is a huge source of nourishment for both animals and plants. It is estimated that the world is losing 137 species of plants and animals everyday and a horrifying 50,000 species become extinct each year, including St Helena Redwoods, Hawaiian Crows, Flabellidium Spinisums and Lachanodes Arboreas. Orangutang's, Sumatran Rhinos, Mountain Gorillas, Pygmy Sloths, Monarch Butterflies and Bornean Pygmy Elephants are just a few animals currently facing extinction from this cause.
